The Day of the Wedding at Cossars Wine Shed

The Day of the Wedding at Cossars Wine Shed

Posted by Catering Dept on 4 October 2018

Since 2009, we’ve had the absolute joy of working with another like-minded and family-owned business, Cossars Wineshed, to create hundreds of beautiful moments. One look at their home of romantically rustic touches, and you’ll understand why this venue is every caterer’s dream.

In preparation for their upcoming wedding fair, we asked the Cossars family to put together a little spiel about what a wedding day with the two of us entails. And so, the special occasion begins a little something like this…

Canapés and Cocktails under the olive trees

After a heartfelt ceremony amongst the vines, the bride and groom walk down the aisle –  on that incomparable high of just being announced husband and wife. Cossars and Catering Dept are waiting to greet and congratulate the Newlyweds as they make their way towards the limestone courtyard. Champagne is popped and the real party begins.

The sun casts shadows across the stones of the courtyard with guests finding reprieve from the heat under the shade of the olive trees, enjoying a quick transport to Greece. Staff are there mingling with guests, serving canapés and pouring ice cold beverages at the outdoor bar while the Bride and Groom are off on their dream shoot, with rolling hills, French-styled buildings and vineyards as their backdrop.

An abundant feast of local produce

As guests move inside our glorious dining hall (with a ceiling stretching to the heavens) and find their seat for dinner, staff are moving around the room to fill wine glasses and offer beverages before the formalities begin.

Catering Dept bring out gorgeous platters abundant with fresh bread and local cheeses. The staff are only too happy to give guests the lowdown on different produce being served and, to much-appreciation from guests, they’re ever so diligent with beverage top ups.

While guests enjoy the first round of speeches, the kitchen is a hive of activity. The chefs are busy preparing a sumptuous main meal, with the smell of fresh produce and meat wafting into the dining room. After the platters have been cleared away, dinner unfolds – beginning with beautifully presented cuts of meat and vegetables that the soulmates have chosen for their family and friends to enjoy. Bon Appétit!

Ending on a sweet notE

Staff whisk away plates licked clean and the second round of speeches begin. While the formalities wrap up, Catering Dept quietly work away in the background to set up a decadent feast of desserts as well as tea and coffee stations in the barn.

Guests spill out into the low evening light to stretch their legs, letting out oohs and aahs as they spot the impressive spread of sweets. It’s about this time that the music is turned up and the main room transformed into a dancefloor. Catering Dept assist their Cossars friends with clearing glasses and moving tables to prepare the night of entertainment.

After a romantic first dance, with plenty of gushing, the event flows smoothly onwards – the inside bar is open, tea and coffee is still available in the barn and Catering Dept staff begin to prepare bacon butties for a late night snack for guests to enjoy on the bus back home. It’s the little things that make you want to say ‘I Do’ to a wedding at Cossars Wineshed with Catering Dept.
